The "Long Rocks" and northern Cat Island

---- From November 7 until November 12, 2000, Team Atlantis journeyed to remote Cat Island, Bahamas. We headed there to explore the possibility of ancient shorelines submerged in the shallows of the Great Bahama Bank. We dove on the mysterious "Long Rocks" located between Cat Island and Little San Salvador.

We took along underwater digital video cameras, digital still cameras, depth finders, GPS devices, metal detectors, laptop computers, 3d navigation software and more to serve us on our mission.

The Great Bahama Bank is located just off the coast of Florida across the Florida Straits. Team Leader Michael Arbuthnot has discovered ancient artifacts submerged beneath the surface of the Gulf of Mexico. We searched for similar evidence in the areas surrounding Cat Island.
